Visiting Artist Week Recital featuring Colin Crake, saxophone 4-5pm May 9

Join classical saxophonist Colin Crake and pianist Tyler Ramos for an afternoon of music at the historic Iao United Church of Christ in Wailuku on Saturday, May 9th at 4:00 PM. The program will include works by Gerswhin, Piazzolla, Beach, Bach, Schumann, Lili‘uokalani, and more; there will surely be something for everyone! The concert is free to attend, with donations accepted going toward the Hana Hou Music Program’s 2026 Spring Fundraiser.

Colin Crake serves as Executive Director of the Hana Hou Music Program. From May 4 to 8, Colin will present a Visiting Artist Week through the Hana Hou Music Program, consisting of free and low-cost saxophone lessons and clinics across Maui, and culminating in a recital at the Iao United Church of Christ in Wailuku.

Colin Crake is a saxophonist based in Boulder, Colorado. Presenting a wide variety of aesthetics, from baroque transcriptions to world premieres, Colin’s programs reflect his passion for promoting the saxophone as an instrument worth serious consideration in the classical music industry. He is a multi-award-winning saxophone soloist, having received prizes at the national and international levels. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts in Saxophone Performance and Literature along with a Music Theory Pedagogy Minor from the Eastman School of Music.

Tyler Ramos is a multi-instrumentalist from Honolulu, HI and currently serves as Instructor of Music at University of Hawai’i at M?noa. Ramos began his musical studies in 2002 at the Ellen Masaki. Dr. Ramos now holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature along with a Music Theory Minor and Arts Leadership Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. He has won top prizes at competitions such as the Music Teachers National Association and the Lois Trester Competition. Tyler is dedicated to giving his students a well-rounded music education, and he believes that anyone regardless of age or experience has the capacity to learn music given the right circumstances.
