Jazz Maui Jazz Camp for Students of all Ages 6-8pm July 1-11/24
Jazz Maui presents Jazz Camp, a series of clinics designed for aspiring jazz vocalists and musicians of all ages and experience, conducted by professional jazz musicians from July 1-11, 2024. Clinics focus on instrument and vocal-specific jazz techniques, performance practice, and jazz improvisation, in hands-on settings. Sessions are two hours and the suggested donation per person is $10, scholarships are available, and walk-in are welcome.
Jazz Camp's clinicians include: members of the Tadashi Thomas Quartet, New York City's finest young jazz musicians; leading figures of Maui's jazz scene that have toured and taught internationally such as drummer Paul Marchetti, saxophonist John Zangrando, keyboardist Jeff Hellmer, trumpeter Paul January, and bassist Ian Sheridan; and, Sheryl Renee and Victor Fields, two outstanding vocalists that have performed and recorded worldwide.
Jazz Maui, a branch of the 501(c)-3 nonprofit Arts Education for Children Group (www.aecg.org), provides opportunities for participation in high quality jazz music education and performances. Throughout the year the Jazz Maui 2024 Maui Music Series presents Sunset Jazz every Sunday in Lahaina, outstanding visiting virtuosos in a bi-monthly concert series in Kihei, and special concerts, clinics, and classes held at various venues around the islands. Jazz Maui supports Jazz Night at the Empanada Lady in Wailuku and "Sheryl Renee Salutes" at Pro Arts.
