Kwanzaa Celebration 10-11am Jan 1/23 via Zoom
On January 1, 2023,the African Americans on Maui Association ( 501c3) will celebrate Kwanzaa, an African American Celebration of 7 principles : Umoja,Kujichagulia, Ujima, Ujamaa, Nia, Kuumba, and Imani. These are Swahili words used one each day of the 7 day celebration,. The Kwanzaa colors are Black representing the people, Red representing the blood of the people and their struggles, and Green stands for hope for the future.
The Kwanzaa Celebration via ZOOM is held on January 1, 2023 at 10:00 am and will last about an hour. Speakers are as follows: Sandra Shawhan, Daphne Barbee-Wooten, Andre Wooten, Shirley J. Davenport, Kathryn Wadell-Takara, and Earl Sundance Sheppard.
