Picnic for Poki Hawaiian Music Concert

Roselani Place and Ola Na Mele Productions invite you to a Picnic for Poki Concert at 11:00 AM at the Historic Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku Town, 103 South High Street on Thursday, November 15, 2018.  Our guest entertainer with live Hawaiian Music will be Kaleo Philips.

Kaleo Phillips was born and raised in Lahaina, Maui.  Jason Kaleonalani Phillips, affectionately known as Kaleo, has been a figure in the Maui music scene for over 30 years. Coming from a musical family background, Kaleo has been blessed to flourish in music playing professionally with a variety of Hawaiian music artists and touring with bands across the globe. In 2004, Kaleo, along with Josh Kahula and Pi‘ilani Arias, formed the trio Pono and released a debut album, Home of Mine, which was received with rave reviews.  This past August, Kaleo has released his first solo CD “E Mama” which brings a new refreshing sound from his island home. This CD is dedicated to his mother and produced by Maui Tribe Records.  The theme of “E Mama” is a personal collection of songs to honor his ohana, places close to his heart, and the malama of Hawaii’s culture.

This free event is open to the public.  There will be delicious fresh baked cookies and coffee from the Roselani Place kitchen.  Bring your lunch, a lawn chair, and most importantly, bring a friend.

Picnic for Poki is held every third Thursday on the month to continue bringing the spirit of aloha and Hawaiian music to the Maui community in honor of the late Allen "Braddah Poki" Pokipala.  Braddah Poki was dedicated to sharing Hawaiian music throughout various venues in Hawaii.  For more information, call 871-7720.
