Bee Aware -- Beekeeper Dennis Morihiro explains the threat to Maui's Bees Sept 25

Honey Bees  Honey Bees  Honey Bees We are very excited to announce the offering of this FREE event titled: "Bee Aware" -- An evening with apiarist Dennis Morihiro of Tropical Apiaries of Wailuku.

This will be a series of four lectures (Sept 18,25, Oct 1)in Haiku, Kihei, Kula, exploring the life of the honey bee here on Maui, through the eyes of a beekeeper. Eyes that have seen the environment become depleted that the bees need not only to survive but to thrive.

What has caused this demise?

Come learn why this most amazing creature is so essential to our agricultural security and prosperity, and why having a bio-diverse environment has such an impact on the quality of life for resident and visitor alike.

Dennis will provide for us a connect-the-dots journey from twenty-two years of "beeing" around these selfless creatures, sharing his experience and observations of the challenges that have resulted from the loss of critical habitat and the recent introduction of the varroa mite.

This event is part of Maui Aloha Aina's upcoming conference on Oct 11-12th -- "Body and Soil" -- speaking to the essential need to invigorate our environment through encouraging plant biodiversity that is supportive of the habitat needed for beneficial insects such as the honey bee.

Come "Bee" with us, for this very special event and sample some of Dennis' dakine local honey!!!
