Dim Mak 20th Anniversary with Steve Aoki & Friends

Friday, February 17, 2017, Events Lawn, 6:00 pm

Dim Mak Records is an independent, Los Angeles, CA-based record label, events company, and lifestyle brand founded by Steve Aoki in 1996. The label has released music in punk, indie rock, hardcore, hip hop, and electronic dance music. The label was started in a dorm room at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In the last 20 years, Dim Mak Records has helped shape the careers of artists from Bloc Party to the Kills in the alternative world and from Deorro to the Chainsmokers in the dance music movement. In 2012, Steve Aoki released his first EP, “It's the End of the World as We Know It.” More collaborations followed in 2013, with Aoki reworking a Linkin Park track for the group's remix album, “Recharged.” The resulting "A Light That Never Comes" was released as a single alongside several more remixes. In 2014, Aoki announced details of a forthcoming album titled, “Neon Future.” Marketed as a two-part record, the first installment arrived later in the year with Fall Out Boy, will.i.am, and Waka Flocka Flame among its guests. “Neon Future, Vol. 2” followed in 2015, with guest appearances from Rivers Cuomo, Snoop Dogg, and J.J. Abrams. In August 2016, Aoki released a full length documentary called “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” to critical acclaim. Must be 18+ to attend.
