Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge Seasonal Saturday Openings
Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge will be open on Saturday July 14 from 8am-3pm. The Refuge is located at Milepost 6 Mokulele Highway (Hwy 311) in Kihei. Visitors to the refuge can explore the new visitor center's interpretive displays and view native birds, plants, and insects at the refuge's wildlife viewing area. An movie titled, "America's National Wildlife Refuge: Where Wildlife Comes First" will be shown continuously from 9:30am-10:30am and from 1:00pm-2:00pm. A talk titled "Wetland Wonders" will be presented by Sonny Gamponia at 11:00am-12:00pm at the visitor center. Visitors can learn about and view Hawaii's endangered Hawaiian stilt and Hawaiian coot and learn about Hawaii's unique birds, plants, and insects.
