Roselani Placeand Ola Na Mele Productions invite you to a Picnic for Poki at 11:00 AM at the Historic Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku Town,103 South High StreetonThursday, June 21, 2012. Our featured guest with live Hawaiian entertainment will be Kaulike. He is 13 years old and attends Kamehameha School. His first contest win was at the age of 8 when he won Maui Shower of Stars (in the 18 and under group).
Kaulike is a dedicated musician and falsetto singer, hearing a song that he likes, will listen to it, teaching himself the words and chords. He started singing along with the radio at age 2. His dad was teaching him to play ukulele before age 4 and he got a Mele Ukulele for his 4th birthday and has won first place (in his age division) at the Hula Grill Ukulele Contest.
Ola Na Mele Productions is proud to announce that Kaulike is in the studio working on his debut CD. He will be joined under the Monkeypod tree by Sheldon Brown on ukulele, Joe Bommarito on bass, and Gerry V. on steel guitar.
Roselani Place,Maui's premier assisted living community, will have fresh baked cookies, coffee, and water. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or mat and their lunch and most importantly, bring a friend.
Picnic for Poki is held every third Thursday on the month to continue bringing the spirit of aloha and Hawaiian music to the Maui community in honor of the late Allen "Braddah Poki" Pokipala. Braddah Poki was dedicated to sharing Hawaiian music and culture through various venues in Hawaii.
