The County of Maui and the Maui Chamber of Commerce have joined together to honor the small businesses doing business on Maui, Molokai & Lanai.
Mayor Arakawa will be giving out 6 awards this year: Three Outstanding Business of the Year awards, one for businesses with 0-10 employees, one for businesses with 11-25 employees, and one for businesses with 26-50 employees. An award will also be given for an Outstanding Non-profit Small Business with 50 or fewer employees, a Young Business Person of the Year award for business persons under 40 years of age, and a Lifetime Achievement Award for a business person with 20 or more years in business in Maui County.
Mayor Arakawa stated, “This is an exceptional group of small businesses, and all of them are worthy of the awards. Small business is the number one economic engine in Maui County. Pamela Tumpap, President of the Maui Chamber of Commerce said , ”It is important to recognize the tremendous contributions small businesses make to improve our economy, community, and our quality of life.
